Road Trip to Charlotte - Weekend Recap

11/17/2013

Friday, I took off with my Mom on a girls road trip up to Charlotte, NC. We were to join my Aunt Robin and our friend Gwen to see the Eagles in concert. This made my third Eagles concert. I grew up with my parents blaring the classics like the Eagles, Journey, and Fleetwood Mac. Needless to say, I drank the Kool Aid and I'm a fan!

History of the Eagles in Concert
One of my favorite travel buddies.

Can you tell we are related? My mom, Gwen, my Aunt Robin, and Moi.
The concert was fantastic and lasted 3 hours! Being a mother of a pre-schooler, this girl doesn't stay out past midnight too often, but my Aunt and Gwen had a special stop in mind.
French bakery Amelie's
As soon as I walked through the doors I realized this place was worth burning the midnight oil for. The eclectic decor was fascinating and there was a line wrapped around the inside of the building. At Midnight people! This is my definition of, "A good problem".

I'm tired.... Get in my belly!

Edwardian Circa 1900s...?

I'll be back!
I got to bed with a nice sugar rush seeing as how I haven't had sugar in almost 30 days. That morning we stopped for breakfast at a place called "The Butcher Shop" in "The Peach Stand".

French Toast the Southern Way

Pancakes, crispy bacon, and eggs
Authentic southern breakfast, made to order. I had a great time browsing their store full of local farm fare, including preserves, butter, whole milk, produce, and treats! I had to leave with some strawberry habanero jelly as I had particular craving in mind to wrap up my cheat day with.

Ta Ta Charlotte! I hope to see you soon. I hear you are one of the fastest growing cities around and I can't wait to explore more of what you have to offer.

Enjoy the Journey!
