Get Your Glow On! - Trend Report

8/26/2013

Diana Manzano of Sole' Spa, and I go way back. Once upon a time we were both teenagers filling big shoes in the spa industry. These days I'm proud to have Sole' Spa on board as our official Airbrush Tanning, and Waxing sponsor. Diana is a stand out professional in the community and has been voted "Best in Jax". I asked her to share some wisdom on airbrush tanning and how easy it is to get a healthy, natural glow, without the damage that comes from UV rays.

Achieving a golden summer glow all year round is easier than you think!

Although the summer sun may feel nice, and leave you looking like a golden sparkle, the long term effects of the UV Rays are not so nice. Over time those dangerous rays will leave you with wrinkled, and uneven skin tone. Let's face it, 30 SPF should be a daily religion for all of us, because the "leather face" look is not so sexy anymore. For a  fresh and even olive complexion all year round, airbrush tanning is your solution.

Achieving a golden summer glow all year round is easier than you think.

Air Brush Tanning is not just popular, its a must with celebrities like Paris Hilton, Kloe & Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez and Megan Fox. Air Brush Tanning gives you glowing skin that lasts for days, not to mention, a little pop of confidence. Some people even claim that air brush tanning makes them feel thinner, who wouldn't like that?

Could airbrush tanning make you feel thinner?
So how does Air Brush Tanning work you ask?
The tanning solution is not a dye.  The active ingredient in the solution, DHA, is an acronym for Dihydroxyacetone. DHA is an ingredient derived from sugar cane and is found in the majority of tanning products.  DHA reacts with the amino acids in the uppermost layer of the skin to create the darkening reaction or tan.  DHA has been used safely in cosmetics for over 30 years. As the skin cells wear away, the color gradually fades just like a real sun tan. The darker your skin, the darker you can tan with a spray tan. However too much application can result in an unnatural looking tan ( think Snookie ) so be careful!

Airbrush tanning gives you a healthy, natural glow!

What is the difference between a Manual Spray Tan and a Spray Tanning Booth?
Accuracy!!
Air Brush Tanning technicians are more thorough and will catch any areas that need a little extra attention.
How long does it last?
About 5- 7 days. Depending on what type of skin you have (dry skin, oily skin) this will be a factor in how long the color will last. Another variable regarding how long color lasts is daily activity, the more you moisturize the longer your tan will last.
Skin replaces itself naturally every 28 days. Twenty-five percent of skin is exfoliated each week, causing a UV-tan to wear away. Sunless spray tans affect only the top 25 percent of skin.

In short, air brush tanning application is fast, easy, and the healthiest way to achieve your golden glow all year round.
