Get Your Glow On! - Trend Report8/26/2013
Diana Manzano of Sole' Spa, and I go way back. Once upon a time we were both teenagers filling big shoes in the spa industry. These days I'm proud to have Sole' Spa on board as our official Airbrush Tanning, and Waxing sponsor. Diana is a stand out professional in the community and has been voted "Best in Jax". I asked her to share some wisdom on airbrush tanning and how easy it is to get a healthy, natural glow, without the damage that comes from UV rays.

The tanning solution is not a dye. The active ingredient in the solution, DHA, is an acronym for Dihydroxyacetone. DHA is an ingredient derived from sugar cane and is found in the majority of tanning products. DHA reacts with the amino acids in the uppermost layer of the skin to create the darkening reaction or tan. DHA has been used safely in cosmetics for over 30 years. As the skin cells wear away, the color gradually fades just like a real sun tan. The darker your skin, the darker you can tan with a spray tan. However too much application can result in an unnatural looking tan ( think Snookie ) so be careful!

Skin replaces itself naturally every 28 days. Twenty-five percent of skin is exfoliated each week, causing a UV-tan to wear away. Sunless spray tans affect only the top 25 percent of skin.
In short, air brush tanning application is fast, easy, and the healthiest way to achieve your golden glow all year round.
